How to cover the fees on a mail-in check

Since mail-in checks go through a different processing flow than online donations, the fees are calculated a bit differently. Use the steps below to find the check amount that covers the fees in full.

Every mail-in check donation has two fees: a 5% service fee, calculated on the total check amount, and a flat $3 processing fee.

To find the amount to write your check for, use this formula:

Check amount = (Amount you want the missionary to receive + $3) ÷ 0.95

For example, if you want the missionary to receive $1,000 after fees, write your check for:

($1,000 + $3) ÷ 0.95 = $1,055.79
