Sowfund Now Stands on Its Own: One Clear Name for Your Missionary Fundraising Platform
Vlad Radchenko · Co-founder, Sowfund · 4 min read | Oct 3, 2026
Over the past year, a lot of the feedback we heard from missionaries and donors came back to the same small frustration. Checks, receipts, and records showed two names, Sowfund and Marked Label, and supporters weren't always sure which one they were actually giving to. Many of you asked for one clear name. We listened, and Sowfund now operates fully as its own nonprofit, with its own EIN. The missionary fundraising platform you use every day is now the only name your supporters will see.
This update is mostly about the paperwork side of giving: who checks are made out to, where mail goes, and which EIN shows up on tax records. Below you'll find the new details, a little background on why things were set up the way they were, and a few simple ways to pass the news along to your supporters.
How Sowfund Got Here
Until recently, Sowfund ran under Marked Label Inc., the nonprofit that built the platform. Marked Label was set up with a specific purpose: to launch Christian service platforms and support them until they're ready to stand on their own. That arrangement gave Sowfund room to grow, serve missionaries, and prove out the model without having to build every piece of nonprofit infrastructure from day one.
As more missionaries and donors joined the platform, Sowfund grew to the point where it was ready to run as its own nonprofit, which was Marked Label's goal from the start. Now operating as an independent, registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Sowfund can offer missionaries and donors a single, consistent name from the moment someone gives to the moment a receipt lands in their inbox.

A Note for Missionaries
Most supporters won't need to do anything differently, but a few will. If any of your supporters give by check or through a donor-advised fund, they'll need the new payee name, mailing address, and EIN. The easiest way to handle it is to mention it once, clearly, in your next update.
It also helps to look through anywhere your old giving information might still live:
- Email newsletters and prayer letters
- Personal or ministry websites
- Printed support cards, brochures, and response forms
- Church bulletin inserts or missions board handouts
If you'd like a ready-to-use line for your next newsletter, feel free to copy this:
"Quick update: if you support our ministry by check, please make checks payable to Sowfund and mail them to 30 N Gould St, Ste N, Sheridan, WY 82801-6317. If you give through a donor-advised fund, Sowfund's EIN is 42-3164372. Thank you for your faithful support!"
What Donors Should Know
For donors, giving to missionaries through Sowfund works the same way it always has, just under one name. Sowfund is a registered tax-exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by U.S. law. Every donor still receives a receipt, and those receipts and records will now carry the Sowfund name only.
Giving through a donor-advised fund? Search for Sowfund by name or by our EIN, 42-3164372, when you recommend a grant. Anything sent by mail can go to our Sheridan, Wyoming address. If you have questions about how to set up a grant for a specific missionary, our team is happy to help at [email protected].
Why One Name Makes Giving Simpler
A support-raising relationship is built on trust, and small points of confusion can add friction to it. When a donor writes a check, opens a year-end statement, or files their taxes, the name they see should match the name their missionary shared with them. Now it does.
For missionaries already raising support on Sowfund, that means fewer "which name do I write on the check?" questions. For missionaries still looking for a missionary donation platform that offers tax-deductible missionary support, Sowfund is now a fully independent nonprofit built around that one purpose. Your public profile lives as a short link you can share anywhere, and supporters can give in just a few clicks. You can read more about how it all works in What Is Sowfund?.
