Has the Holy Spirit ever spoken to you so clearly that even though it wasn’t audible, it might as well have been? When I was 15, the Lord told me, “Go,” and He didn’t have to explain what He meant. I argued with Him for a few moments, but those of you who have tried that know how that goes. That day, He gave me a heart and a passion for mission work beyond U.S. borders. Before I go any further, I want to say that every single follower of Jesus is called to the mission field. Upon becoming a believer, we are all put on mission to share Jesus with others. The “mission field” looks different for each believer and even changes throughout the believer’s life. The Lord has given me many mission fields right here in the States and has used me (often in spite of me) to accomplish His work. That being said, I have known since I was 15 that the Lord had something more for me. Over the years, I began to wonder if I had misunderstood. Doors seemed shut on any possibility of consistent overseas mission work. So I waited, and I prayed, and I watched for opportunities. In December 2024, the Lord basically dropped the opportunity to go to Cuba straight into my lap. In April 2025, at almost 33 years old, I went to Cuba with a lady that I didn’t even know. That trip began a passion for the Lord’s work in Cuba that I could never have imagined. Never before has leaving a place felt like leaving my heart behind. I can’t explain it other than to say that the Lord has given me the gift of an intense burden and passion for the people of Cuba. Since then, He has been flinging the doors wide open for consistent ministry. I am honored to be allowed to serve such a beautiful people, and I am so excited to get to be part of what the Lord is doing!
